According to NDSU Plant Pathologist Andrew Friskop, conditions are prime for scabbing on heading grains. “Right now, if you want to talk about head blight in our state, our most susceptible varieties are in that moderate to high risk and I expect it to stay that way through the 4th of July weekend.” Friskopp suggests not waiting to spray until fusarium head blight has started. “Once you see it, it’s too late. There’s a seven-day window that you want to target once flowering begins.”
