During the 2020 Crop Outlook and International Durum Forum, attendees heard about the impact of COVID on the pasta industry and making the most of challenging times. USDA farm programs were also a focus. North Dakota Farm Service Agency State Executive Director Brad Thykeson updated on the second Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. “CFAP 2.0 has a deadline of December 11. We want farmers to check in with their local FSA office and to make sure they are signed up. In North Dakota, the second program has put out more than $344 million for the North Dakota economy. It’s a $16 billion program nationwide.” Thykeson said more funds have been received in North Dakota under this new CFAP compared to the first program. The first CFAP stats are still being tallied, because barley growers became eligible later on in the program.
