At Kennedy, Minnesota there is great variability within the soybean fields. Tom Dowdle harvested a 474-acre seed production field that was a prime example. “It varied widely in yields from the north to south because of soil types.” Dowdle reported anywhere from 40-to-65-plus bushels per acre in that field. Dowdle also grows sunflowers and sunflower midge is a concern.
