Redfield Students Win Poultry Event

A team of four Redfield, South Dakota students have won the poultry event for this year’s South Dakota FFA Convention. For Elden Blume, Evan Jaton, Benson Beckler, and Kevin Weller, the announcement that their team won culminated three year’s worth of effort. “We were all looking for an FFA event to do and Elden swayed us to do poultry. This is our third year of doing it and we finally won,” Beckler said of the accomplishment. “We practiced almost every day, we put in a lot of hard work over the past three years,” Jaton said about all the effort that the team put towards the competition each year. Blume plans to continue building his business after attending Lake Area Technical College for entrepreneurship. Beckler will also attend Lake Area Tech to pursue a degree in energy technology. Weller will attend SDSU this fall to study Animal Science, and Jaton plans to attend Mitchell Tech to study Natural Gas and Powerline Technologies.
