For Jamestown area farmer Ryan Wanzek, the recent cold spell delayed an otherwise early start to the planting season. “I think the reason people haven’t been more aggressive is just the cold weather. They haven’t been pushing it and very few guys are putting much for wheat in with the economics of it.” Wanzek reports that soil conditions are good. “I would say as soon as the frost comes out, we’ll be able to go pretty much go end-to-end which we haven’t been able to do in five or six years.”
