The Bank of North Dakota’s Livestock Rebuilder’s Loan Program is responsible for 16,000 head of cattle being added in the state over the past two years. The program was developed to strengthen North Dakota’s livestock industry after the 2021 drought when beef cow numbers declined by 89,000 head. This loan program closed this past June. There were nearly 200 loans made through local banks and credit unions for a total of $26.6 million. The Bank of North Dakota funded $18.5 million of that total.
