Blister Beetles have been spotted in alfalfa fields. NDSU Extension Forage Crops Production Specialist James Rogers said it can be more difficult putting up alfalfa when blister beetles are present. “They consume plant material and are attracted to flowering plants. The beetles themselves contain a toxin that if an animal digested, can cause problems and may be lethal in horses.” Blister beetles are active from June-through-September.
