South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke was part of a recent meeting with the Department of Justice regarding anticompetitive practices in the livestock industry. “We met with about fifty people and talked about a lot of topics, but the main one was how consolidation in the livestock industry is affecting our livelihood.” Sombke says the meeting was eye-opening. “They expressed that a lot of this was news to them.”
