The canola industry has been working for years to get canola included as a feedstock in the Renewable Fuels Standard. “The U.S. Canola Association sent in the petition in March 2020. It’s been two years since that petition was sent in to the EPA to get canola oil approved,” said Barry Coleman, executive director, Northern Canola Growers Association. “Once this is published in the Federal Register, we’re counting on a July or August timeframe for a final rule to be put in place. With what’s happening geopolitically right now, it was convenient for the administration to be able to put this approval in as another step to lower fuel prices.” Read more about the proposed rulemaking.
