Cargill and Golden Growers Cooperative have an agreement to take over ownership of the ProGold corn processing plant at Wahpeton. Cargill, which has leased and operated the plant since 1997, is buying the shares from American Crystal Sugar Company. Cargill and Golden Growers will have 50-50 ownership of ProGold. In a statement, American Crystal Sugar Company CEO Tom Astrup said this deal allows the sugarbeet co-op to focus on its core business.
