The Renewable Fuels Association tells the Red River Farm Network the association is disappointed with the EPA’s approach to RFS compliance deadlines. With the final rule, CEO Geoff Cooper said EPA just gave itself power to delay implementation of yearly RFS blending requirements and kick the can on compliance deadlines. Cooper said this is not what Congress intended and could exacerbate uncertainty around the implementation of the RFS. Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor also issued a statement. “Delaying compliance deadlines is completely contradictory to efforts to lower rising gas prices and increase the use of cleaner, lower-carbon fuels…EPA is creating uncertainty in the marketplace and stunting the blending of biofuel needed to decarbonize transportation as the Renewable Fuel Standard intended.”
