In response to the government’s 30-day ban on beef exports, Argentine cattle producers and packer/processors are on strike. The government shut down exports as a way to deal with out-of-control inflation. Argentina is the fifth largest beef producer worldwide and is the third largest beef exporter. This short-term hole in the supply chain may provide opportunity for the U.S. meat industry.
