Supply chain backups at ports and by rail continue to impact product availability for farmers. WinField United President Brett Bruggeman doesn’t expect these issues to end soon. Farmers should plan ahead and prepare for 2022 needs. “We are coming off of the largest crop planted and the lowest amount of inventory we’ve had due to COVID or other things. Planning ahead is important.” Bruggeman says the specific products to monitor are coming from China. That’s where 60 to 70 percent of inert ingredients come from. “Simple things like glyphosate, 2,4-D and dicamba all have those inerts. That’s one bucket. Then, there are products that are 12 to 18 month production cycles with more sophisticated molecules. Farmers should sit down with their sales person and work through what you need for the farm.” Hear the story.
