Drought conditions increased in the previous week across the Northern Plains, but the recent snow events aren’t factored into the latest U.S. Drought Monitor. Midwest Climate Hub Director Dennis Todey says the dryness could improve, but this information will need to be confirmed in next Thursday’s update. It is likely the Northern Plains will still need more rain or snow before spring to alleviate the dry conditions. “However, if there can be more precipitation after planting, maybe that would be better off for the crop.”
