The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office will start consultations with Canada to take a closer look at its dairy Tariff Rate Quota obligations. In the past, Canada has distorted its TRQ administration to limit dairy imports from the U.S. As the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is implemented, U.S. dairy groups are glad to see USTR intervening. In a statement, U.S. Dairy Export Council CEO Tom Vilsack said this is a critical first step, but more work is needed to make sure Canada complies with the Class 7 related USMCA commitments.
