While the Trump administration may have made strides to help biofuels this year, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley said there are still things that need to be done. “Comments this past week from EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler acknowledged the November 30 statutory deadline for setting 2021 RFS blending volumes will be missed, because the agency has yet to propose the rule. Yet, Wheeler said RIN prices are out of control. I don’t know how he can say that, because that’s not the case as I see it; ethanol RINS are lower than they were three to four years ago.” Grassley said Wheeler’s opinion on RIN prices is irrelevant and he must follow the law. “The EPA should also give biofuel producers and farmers more certainty with a 2021 RVO rule. The EPA should propose a blending level at or above 15 billion gallons. Wheeler needs to simply follow the law.”
