In northwest Minnesota, Halma farmer Lance Hapka started harvest just over a week ago. The corn was at 18 percent moisture. “It’s been 2012 since I’ve had something like that, especially so early.” In southern Minnesota, near Lake Benton, Bob Worth is harvesting corn with moisture levels from 19-to-23 percent. “Yield is at 200 bushels an acre, unheard of for our area. Of course, that’s not all Lincoln County. If you go further north, where they didn’t get the rains, they are at 160 bushels per acre. I think we would have had a bigger crop if August rains happened.”
