Certain pockets in the Northern Plains are dry, while are suffering from too much moisture. As a result, farmers are scouting fields and pinpointing nutritional deficiencies. The Mosaic Company technical sales manager Sherry Koch says the first step is identify areas of concern in fields. “There can be more than one cause for nutritional deficiencies. Weather plays a big role in crop nutrition as well” There are things farmers can do now to set themselves up for success come harvest. Koch acknowledges many fields went without fertilizer application this past spring. On those fields especially, a soil test following combining is likely warranted. Listen to the story.
