South Dakota Senator John Thune and Minnesota Senator Tina Smith introduced a bill to allow emergency haying and grazing on the Conservation Reserve Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, CRP haying and grazing is limited to weather-related disaster events. Companion legislation has also been introduced in the House by Minnesota Representative Angie Craig and Kansas Representative Roger Marshall.
