Winter wheat is progressing well in South Dakota. “We had a little bit of a set back with the winter weather event two to three weeks ago, but it seems to be coming back with good growth.” said Reid Christopherson, executive director, South Dakota Wheat Commission. Farmers in the northeast area of South Dakota are still seeding spring wheat. The rain and cool temperatures will delay planting this week. Christopherson said farmers are also closely watching the frost forecast. “We hope the wheat has enough strength to it at this point that this should have a minimal impact. It depends how cold it gets and how long it stays cold.”
