If a farmer has to go inside a grain bin, don’t forget to lockout and tagout. “Make sure there’s no way for someone to power anything on,” said Megan Schossow, outreach coordinator, Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center. “Have someone with you when you’re working with grain. Also, be mindful of personal protective equipment. A lot of respirators and masks are being diverted to healthcare professionals. If you still have appropriate protection, keep using it when working around grain.” This farm safety reminder is made possible by the North Dakota Wheat Commission, the Minnesota Corn Growers Association and North Dakota Corn Utilization Council.
