Midwest Dairy Board Chairman Allen Merrill remains optimistic about the future of the dairy industry as the industry adjusts to current market forces. “The dairy industry is changing. We’ve seen a price point a little more appealing coming out of the last four years, but farmers are cautiously optimistic. Farmers are working hard and have made changes. Hopefully, the changes have helped them with cash flow.” Merrill also says one of the ways the Midwest Dairy Board can help farmers is by using dairy checkoff dollars to be proactive. “We’re working on projects 10 years out focused on what consumers want. We see this as an opportunity, along with continuing partnerships that bring value to dairy farmers.”
