During a House Agriculture Subcommittee on Exchanges, Energy and Credit hearing on Tuesday, Farm Credit Administration CEO Glen Smith told lawmakers the best thing Congress can do to help farmers right now is ratify trade agreements. “The two big issues of trade in front of agriculture right now is the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement and a possible bilateral trade agreement with Japan,” said Smith. “Swift passage of those would assist us in negotiations with China. The more allies we can bring into the global trade negotiations, the stronger our position.”
