State Farm Bureau presidents met in Washington D.C. this week to discuss trade, renewable fuels and other policy. American Farm Bureau Federation Vice-President Scott VanderWal says there is optimism from Congressional leaders like House Agriculture Committee chairman Collin Peterson and Senate Majority Whip John Thune to get the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement ratified. Though it may not happen until fall. “Senator Thune said the Senate is ready to jump on it when the House passes the USMCA,” says VanderWal. “We are all hoping it will happen by the end of the year. Election season would interfere after that.”
