Infrastructure needs are getting attention again in Washington D.C. In a hearing Thursday, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure reviewed potential boosts in the gas tax and other solutions to fund improvements to bridges and roads. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz testified. “Governors understand no single stream of revenue or approach to financing will address all the gaps. States need a comprehensive approach that allows for leveraging a variety of funding sources and the flexibility to match the right tool with each project,” said Walz. “States succeed when there is certainty and stability in long term federal resources ensuring workforce and economic vitality.” Walz also explained an increase in the gas tax could provide a steady funding solution to improving infrastructure.
