The University of Minnesota Small Grains Plot Tour made a stop near Oklee, Minnesota this morning. There was a focus on hybrid wheat this year. U of M Extension agronomist Jochum Wiersma says when making decisions about hybrids, there are two main factors farmers should consider. “It’s a matter of yield and stability advantage, if any, compared to conventional lines. Then, it’s the seed cost. Is the hybrid advantage large enough to offset the increased cost?”
