Agri-Pulse Deputy Managing Editor Spencer Chase is back from a trip to China. China is growing quickly and there is massive demand for food and food products, but it is not known if the U.S. will satisfy that demand. Chase says the U.S. Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad, is taking an optimistic view on the trade outlook.”He really doesn’t think that the United States or China really wants to get in any kind of a prolonged trade war. Branstad doesn’t think that will be good or beneficial for either country really, but he also says the United States is not willing to accept any anything short of a fair deal in order to end this dispute.”
