South Dakota State University Extension Crop Production Associate Jon Kleinjan says the crop is still variable. Storms are impacting the area. “Some producers in Sully County on Monday lost 14,000 acres, somebody else lost 4,000 out of the 6,000 that he runs. That’s a pretty significant losses on the center of the state.” Kleinjan says the Onida, South Dakota crop looked good on Monday. “It’s almost a double whammy when stuff looks that good and then you get wiped out. I don’t know the extent. One producer compared it to the tropical storm, that blizzard that was so hard on the cattle producers, he thought this one was just too bad for crop producers.”
