Regulatory relief is being applauded by Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. The omnibus spending package included the removal of a rule requiring farmers to get a Data Universal Number System (DUNS) or System for Award Management (SAM) number to participate in conservation programs. Perdue said these numbers were designed for billion-dollar government contractors, not everyday farmers. The regulatory change was published Friday in the Federal Register.
