Planting is the number one priority, but timely weed control is also important. Enlist field specialist Steve Snyder says a lot of the pre-emerge soybean herbicides have a labeled application window of up to three days after planting. “The fourth day after planting, it is not legal to spray a lot of these pre-emerge herbicides. They need to focus on weed control as soon as they can after planting.” To get the most out of the herbicide application, Snyder says it is important to use full rates. “This is not a time to skimp, particularly with the more challenging glyphosate-resistant weeds, like waterhemp and ragweed.”
